 The EG

     I watched a bushel gourd grow near the           driveway for months......I kept thinking...                 “That one looks like I can use it                  for something special .....if it dries                       out with a good hard thick shell.  ..     .” Well it did....and so I turned it into                     the EG...Electric Gourd!

     The tuners are off of an old Les Paul                   guitar and the frets are made of                                  “finishing nails”.

   It’s favorite day was recording “Foggy Mtn      .Breakdown” at FAME Studios in Muscle          Shoals AL.......!

   As far as I know FAME had not been                 exposed to an electric gourd until that            day...

         .....and probably not since.....

   I am so grateful to Mr. Rick Hall for that                            wonderful opportunity

The GitGourd03

   This is the “Git Gourd”. My good buddy Leon had these two gourds lying in the back of an old pickup truck. He gave me these two and several other real nice ones. He really has the “knack” for growing some good thick-shelled specimens! These two gourds never “expected” to become a guitar.......I think they were “dreaming” of becoming bird houses.....Actually, even now, if I’m playing music outside, I can’t stop playing for long between songs..........or birds will start nesting in the gourd on the end!  Hee Hee!
